General Santos
City (11 August) -- The GenSan 'Sashimi Night' may yet
become one of the biggest crowd drawers during the
celebration of the 7th Tuna Festival come September 2-5,
2005.
Similar to the night café found in the streets of Malate,
Manila or the night café in Davao City, Sashimi Night will
also light the streets of General Santos City particularly
its main and busiest thoroughfares -- Pioneers Avenue.
Organizer said 'Sashimi Night,' a parade of tuna-value added
products, will certainly be a "welcome delight" for
nocturnal-trippers who are out to unwind and experience the
night ambience while savoring the mouth-watering tuna
delicacies prepared by food connoisseurs and entrepreneurs.
The City Tourism Council has met Wednesday to lay down
activities for the 7th Tuna fest after leading a successful
July 'business month' celebration popularly known as "Yaman
Gensan."
City Tourism Council Chair Mayor Pedro Acharon Jr. revealed
the city government has earmarked P1.5 million in support of
the festivity.
Atty. Orlando Mirabueno, vice-chairman of the Council, also
expressed confidence the Tuna Fest would be a success since
various activities have been lined up to entertain both the
city residents, local and foreign tourists.
"We will see to it that posters and other printing materials
which contain the Festival's schedule of activities will be
distributed and posted in strategic places like malls,
barber shops, parlors, and other places frequented by people
so that they would be aware of the celebration," he said.
The City Economic Management and Cooperative Development
Office (CEMCDO) is assigned with the accreditation of
business establishments interested to join the "Sashimi
Night" for as long as they sell tuna products during the
entire Tuna Fest. (PIA-SarGen) |
