July) -- Sining Lila Theatro group, a group of women sector
composed of drama artists in Davao said the acts of women in
raising their children, making habitat and healing their
wounds and those of their neighbors give meaning to peace
and development.
Nida Crismas and Virgie Capote, both of Sining Lila, during
the regular program "Kababayen-an" aired over DXRP Radyo ng
Bayan said the building of bridges among groups, expanding
the areas of dialogues and common action among diverse
sector and political formations rely heavily on the
"housekeeping" of women.
Capote, said women can build peace as they move among others
in the circles of discussions and negotiations, talk about
their mothers and children, and share their own personal
stories.
She said, women in government, communities, and civil
society can bring insights to the meeting table and beyond.
"Little by little, new ground is being broken that will ease
the ways we address division and conflict, she stressed.
Crismas, on her part said women can forge consensus and
agreement, even in the most contentious issues.
In our gender and development advocacy, women has equal
opportunities with men, she added.
In peace and development issues, women are not being taken
for granted in this new era. Unlike before, when the women
sector are being taken for granted thinking that women are
only good on housekeeping, raising of children, doing the
cooking and the hard works in the house.
But today, women has their own voice, could join the peace
keeping effort of our government and eventually achieve our
goal of a real peaceful country in the future, Ms. Crismas
